Dexter Dunn won both $80,000 Kentucky Championship Series races on Sunday at The Red Mile, tallying with Twin B Joe Fresh, a 2-year-old pacing filly he co-owns, and with 3-year-old trotting filly Selfie Queen. Twin B Joe Fresh scored in 1:48 4/5, just missing the divisional world record by a fifth of a second. Twin B Joe Fresh led at the 28 1/5 opening quarter in her event but yielded to Cultured (Todd McCarthy) after that marker. Cultured went on to hit the half in 55 seconds and the three-quarters in 1:22 2/5, but Twin B Joe Fresh blew by her in the lane after angling out and then drew off to prevail by 6 1/4 lengths over Strong Poison (Yannick Gingras). Caviart Marcella (Andy McCarthy) was third. A Roll With Joe-Fresh Breeze filly bred by Brittany Farms, Twin B Joe Fresh is trained by Chris Ryder, and he also shares ownership of her with Dunn, Peter Trebotica, and Barry Spak. Acquired for $65,000 at the 2021 Standardbred Horse Sale, she has put away $136,887 to go with a 3-0-1 record, and she returned $4.52 to win as the favorite. In the contest for sophomore trotting fillies, Selfie Queen and Dunn tipped out of the two-hole and took over the top spot from Bare My Soul (Gingras) beyond the 28 2/5 opening quarter. Selfie Queen would maintain command at the 55 4/5 half and the 1:23 3/5 three-quarters, and a 27 3/5 final panel sealed her 1 3/4 length decision over Disclosure (Tony Hall). Bare My Soul ended up coming in third. Nancy Takter trains Selfie Queen, a daughter of Muscle Hill-Lady Lakewood bred by James Wilhite, for owners Robert Leblanc, David Anderson, and John Fielding. Selfie Queen won for the sixth time from 17 lifetime starts, she has now earned $290,750, and she returned $11.64 to win.
