Red Mile: Chalky start to Corbin Sires Stakes

Racing returned to The Red Mile on Sunday afternoon as the Lexington, Kentucky, oval began the 12-day Corbin Sires Stakes meet with a pair of $30,000 tests.
El Rey (Dexter Dunn) fanned out widest off cover late on the final bend in the division for 2-year-old colt and gelding pacers, and he would out-finish Kaptain Karlos (David Miller) and Bamboozler (Tony Hall) to win by a neck in 1:50 2/5.
A Captaintreacherous colt bred by Riverview Breeding LLC., El Rey is trained by Tony Alagna for owners Brittany Farms and El Rey Racing. This was his third win from nine starts, he has now banked $42,750, and paid $4.66 to win as the 6-5 choice.

In the split for rookie pacing fillies, To All A Goodnight (David Miller) took the lead away from American Wisdom (Todd McCarthy) beyond the 27 4/5 opening quarter and maintained command from there, defeating Diamondsnpearls (Dunn) by half a length in 1:52 3/5. Seashell (Devon Tharps) rallied for third.
Trained by Carter Pinske, To All A Goodnight was bred by Kentuckiana Farms, and they share ownership of the Captaintreacherous filly with Pinske Stables. To All A Goodnight has won three times from ten attempts, pushed her bankroll to $36,520, and returned $6.82 to win as the 2-1 favorite.
