Red Mile: Boudoir Hanover, Special Way repeat in Kentucky Championship Series

Three-year-old pacing filly Boudoir Hanover and rookie filly trotter Special Way posted their second straight victories in the Kentucky Championship Series by winning their respective $80,000 events on Tuesday at The Red Mile.
Driver Todd McCarthy put Boudoir Hanover in the pocket behind Msdinosis Blugrass (Dexter Dunn) and watched as that foe cut fractions of 27 4/5, 56 3/5 and 1:24 3/5, but McCarthy had Boudoir Hanover out and moving two-wide before three-quarters. Boudoir Hanover forged by Msdinosis Blugrass in the upper part of the stretch, and although she didn't draw off, Boudoir Hanover held sway to win by a head over a gaining Always Gonna B You (David Miller). Msdinosis Blugrass saved third after digging in gamely through the lane.
Boudoir Hanover is a Captaintreacherous filly trained by Tony Alagna for owners Riverview Racing LLC., Alagna Racing LLC., Caviart Farms, and D Plouffe And S Head. Bred by Riverview Breeding LLC. and Visionary Breeders LLC., Boudoir Hanover posted her sixth victory from 20 lifetime attempts, and she has now put away $462,998. The 1-9 favorite, Boudoir Hanover returned $2.18 to win.
The Kentucky Championship Series tilt for 2-year-old trotting fillies was supposed to have taken place on Monday, but that card ended up getting cancelled due to weather and track conditions, so it was held today as a non-wagering contest. Una Madonna (Yannick Gingras) would post panels of 28 4/5, 58, and 1:27 2/5, but Special Way (Ake Svanstedt), who went first-up from third before three-quarters, blew by her and then drew clear in a 26 3/5 last quarter, winning by two lengths in 1:54 1/5. Walner Payton (Dunn) and Life Itself (Tim Tetrick) dead-heated for second.
Svanstedt trains Special Way, a daughter of Walner-Special Hill, for owners/breeders Brittany Farms, Marvin Katz, and Al Libfeld. She has two wins from four chances and has now earned $85,975.
