Red Mile: Boudoir Hanover, Sea Silk tally in Bluegrass Stakes

Ohio Triple Crown winner Sea Silk remained undefeated by capturing her first Grand Circuit start, and Boudoir Hanover picked up a sub-1:50 mark in the two Bluegrass flights for 2-year-old pacing fillies that took place on Friday afternoon at The Red Mile.
Sea Silk (Chris Page) raced in the second $145,000 grouping, and she would lead her six foes through fractions of 27 2/5, 55 3/5, and 1:24 1/5. In the lane Dont Fence Me In (Dexter Dunn) rallied through on the inside and Yes And Yes (Tim Tetrick) closed well from second-over, but Sea Silk dug in and held sway, winning by a length in a life's-best clocking of 1:50 3/5. Dont Fence Me In was second from Yes And Yes.
"The only quirk she has is she'll get a little lopey-gaited and looks like she's got a problem, but as soon as you turn her and send her in the right direction and get her pacing, she just takes off," said assistant trainer Mickey Burke Jr. "She's been just pacing from the start and going forward. [She] couldn't be a nicer horse to deal with."
Ron Burke trains Sea Silk, a daughter of Downbytheseaside-Silk Purse, for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Weaver Bruscemi LLC., Knox Services Inc., and Hatfield Stables. The Steiner Stock Farm-bred has won all nine of her starts, has now pocketed $446,092, and paid $2.40 to win as the 1-5 favorite.
