Red Mile: Alagna barn sweeps Sunday's Corbin Sires Stakes finals

Tony Alagna-trained Style For A Mile and Tauarsi got the job done in the $70,000 Corbin Sires Stakes finals for 3-year-old pacers on Sunday afternoon at The Red Mile.
Dont Fence Me In (Scott Zeron), another member of the Alagna Armada, led at the 27 second opening quarter in the event for the fillies, but she would be overtaken by Lookatmyrapsheet (Yannick Gingras) beyond that station. Lookatmyrapsheet would go on to reach the half in 55 3/5 and the three-quarters in 1:24 2/5, with Msdinosis Blugrass (Tony Hall) pressuring Lookatmyrapsheet from first-up and Style For A Mile (Dexter Dunn) tracking Msdinosis Blugrass from second-over.
Lookatmyrapsheet fended off Msdinosis Blugrass into the lane, but Dunn fired Style For A Mile three-wide late on the final bend, and she would surge into the lead inside the final eighth. From there, Style For A Mile held sway over Dont Fence Me In, who couldn't get full clearance after tipping out in the stretch, defeating her stablemate by a length and a quarter in 1:51. Msdinosis Blugrass ended up finishing third.
A daughter of Captaintreacherous bred by All Four Won, Style For A Mile is owned by Bottom Line Racing LLC. and Brad Grant. She has a record of 5-2-3 from 15 career starts, has now earned $104,650, and paid $6.62 to win as the 2-1 third choice.

In the race for colts and geldings, Terminator (Gingras) reached the quarter on top in 27 1/5, but Taurasi (Devon Tharps) drove on two-wide and landed on the engine after that marker. After taking charge, Taurasi zipped through a 55 2/5 half and a 1:23 1/5 three-quarters, turned away a first-over bid by stablemate and favorite Caviart Camden (Dunn) on the far turn, and sprinted home in 26 4/5 to score by 2 1/4 lengths in 1:50. Boston (Joe Bongiorno) closed well from second-over to get runner-up honors, and Caviart Camden ended up third.
The victorious Racing Hill gelding is a homebred for M T Pockets Stables and Victoria Howard. Taurasi, who didn't make a pari-mutuel start as a freshman, has eight victories from ten appearances in 2022, has pocketed $166,900, and returned $6.84 to win as the 2-1 second choice.
