Record stall requests for Gulfstream championship meet

Gulfstream has received a record 5,356 stall requests for its championship meet that opens Dec. 6. The track can house 3,800 horses between Gulfstream, Gulfstream Park West, and the Palm Meadows Training Center.

“We’re delighted so many of the country’s top horsemen want to race at Gulfstream and stable at one of our three facilities during the winter season,” said P.J. Campo, vice president of racing for Gulfstream. “We’ve planned ahead for the championship meet by refurbishing the main track at Palm Meadows, doing extensive renovations to barns at Gulfstream Park West, and now working on the turf course and main track at Gulfstream Park. Obviously, we’ll do everything we can to accommodate as many horsemen as possible.”

The meet’s $11.25 million stakes program includes 37 graded races.
