The Flightline colt purchased on Friday for $10.5 million at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. 2-year-olds in training sale in Florida arrived at Bob Baffert’s stable at Santa Anita on Saturday. The unnamed colt will be owned by Amr Zedan, one of Baffert’s principal clients. “He’s a specimen – a man among boys, really,” Baffert told Santa Anita publicity. “With his pedigree, you know why he cost so much.” Flightline, the 2022 Horse of the Year, was undefeated in a brief two-year campaign. The expensive juvenile colt is out of Lucrezia, an Into Mischief mare who was a two-time minor stakes winner at Tampa Bay Downs and Gulfstream Park in 2019 and 2020. Lucrezia was second in the Grade 2 Gulfstream Park Oaks in March 2020. :: Santa Anita Classic Meet! Get DRF Past Performances, Clocker Reports, and more. The purchase was a record for an auction conducted by OBS, well beyond the previous mark of $3 million Zedan paid for Brant at the 2025 OBS March sale. Brant won the Grade 1 Del Mar Futurity last September but has been beaten in his last two starts – a third in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Del Mar last October and a fifth-place finish in the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes as the 4-5 favorite on March 7 at Santa Anita. Brant worked five furlongs in 1:00 on Sunday at Santa Anita. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering? Check out DRF's Handicapping 101 and Wagering 101 pages.
