Barbara D. Livingston Trainer Chad Brown is targeting both Domestic Product and Sierra Leone toward the Grade 2 Remsen at Aqueduct.

OZONE PARK, N.Y. — Trainer Chad Brown may have two runners for the Grade 2, $250,000 Remsen Stakes in second-time out winner Domestic Product and the debut-winning Sierra Leone.

Domestic Product, a son of Practical Joke, won a 1 1/8-mile maiden race at Aqueduct on Oct. 27. The race came with blinkers added and about 12 weeks after he finished sixth on debut going six furlongs. Domestic Product earned a 75 Beyer Speed Figure for his maiden win.

Sierra Leone, a son of Gun Runner who brought $2.3 million at auction, overcame a bobbling break to win a one-mile maiden race on Nov. 4 at Aqueduct by 1 1/4 lengths. He ran a mile in 1:36.94 and earned a 71 Beyer.

“He looked good, the number came back solid, I’m considering that horse for the Remsen, him and Domestic Product both,” Brown said.

The Remsen is run the same day as the Cigar Mile and Brown said he may have three horses for that race including Dr Ardito and Accretive, the second and third-place finishers from the Forty Niner Stakes.

Cascais, second in a first-level allowance on Oct. 21, is also under consideration for the Cigar Mile, Brown said.

Meanwhile, Brown said that Goodnight Olive, the winner of a second straight Breeders’ Cup Filly and Sprint last weekend at Santa Anita, has been shipped to Payson Park in Florida to get a break. The mare was purchased for $6 million Tuesday night at Keeneland by new owner John Stewart who has expressed a desire to run Goodnight Olive in 2024.

Brown said Goodnight Olive came out of Breeders’ Cup “nice and sound” and that, if all goes well this winter, he would look to bring her back in the Grade 1 Madison at Keeneland, a seven-furlong race typically run in early April.

Randomized the 3-year-old filly who finished second in the Breeders’ Cup Distaff for Brown, is getting a break in Kentucky before joining Brown’s stable this winter at Payson Park. Brown said a potential comeback race for Randomized would be the La Troienne typically run on Kentucky Derby Day at Churchill Downs.

Brown said that Gina Romantica, fourth, beaten one length in the Breeders’ Cup Mile, is expected to race again in 2024, while no final decision has been made regarding In Italian, who finished fifth in the Mile.
