ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Maryland shipper Ready To Venture got back on Lasix and got the job done over Millie Girl in Sunday’s Grade 3 Seaway, giving Lael Stables its second stakes success on the weekend at Woodbine.
With Rafael Hernandez aboard, Ready To Venture assumed an inside stalking position in fourth on the backstretch in the seven-furlong sprint for fillies and mares. Longshots Vantarsi and Hai Bobbi vied for the lead while Ticker Tape Home tracked them on the outside.
Ready To Venture ($16.30) split the leaders at the head of the stretch to assume command before holding off the slow-starting Millie Girl to prevail by 1 1/4 lengths, in a time of 1:21.60.
Il Malocchio rallied belatedly for third. She was followed by 3-1 favorite Ticker Tape Home, Vantarsi, Hazelbrook, Talk to Ya Later, Hai Bobbi and Purrfect.

“They gave me instructions to stalk with her,” Hernandez said. “She showed up today. I was loaded. At the three-eighths, I said I still had horse. I had to wait a little bit turning for home, and when I put her in the clear, she did it. She was running down the lane, and I knew whoever was coming would have to run fast (to beat me).”
A daughter of Kingman bred in England, Ready To Venture earned $90,000 of the $161,300 purse. Lael Stables also captured Saturday’s Grade 1 Natalma, a Breeders’ Cup Win and You’re In qualifier, with She Feels Pretty.
