Ready to Jam solved a season of seconditis with a victory in Sunday’s $150,000 Autumn Days Stakes for older female turf sprinters at Aqueduct.  Sitting a sweet trip under Junior Alvarado, Ready to Jam rallied from midpack to outfinish a late-running Johanny to win by three-quarters of a length. It was another half-length back to Lifelovenlaughter in third.  Ready to Jam, a 4-year-old daughter of More Than Ready owned by Gary Barber and D J Stable and trained by Mark Casse, won for the first time in six starts this year and the third time from 14 starts overall. She had finished second in three of five starts this year, including twice in stakes.  “I expected her to run well here today and I'm really tickled that she got the win,” Shane Tripp, assistant to trainer Casse, told NYRA publicity. “She had a great ride from Junior and that made all the difference. It's an important win for her - she's a beautiful More Than Ready mare - and I'm happy for Mark and the owners."  Alvarado, riding Ready to Jam for the first time, had the 4-year-old filly in fifth, but only three lengths off the pace established by Dontlookbackatall. Alvarado rallied Ready to Jam three-wide turning for home and she outfinished Johanny, a 23-1 shot who was rallying from seventh under Kendrick Carmouche.  “I didn’t know what to expect,” Alvarado said. “Last time, she was close to the pace and was chasing the speed at Kentucky Downs, so I figured we’d get out of there forward and see where she puts me. We ended up having a good position the whole way around. She finished very powerful today.”  Ready to Jam covered the six furlongs in 1:08.77 and returned $18.34 as the fourth choice.  Following Lifelovenlaughter in the order of finish were Cavalier Cupid, Do Gooder, the 3-2 favorite Toupie, Danse Macabre, Riley’s Redemption and Dontlookbackatall  Out on Bail takes Carle Place  Out on Bail, similar to Ready to Jam, also ended a rash of seconditis with a nose victory over longshot Cyclonite in the rescheduled $150,000 Carle Place Stakes for 3-year-olds.  Out on Bail had finished second in three of his last five starts since he won the Skidmore Stakes in August 2024. He was coming out of a seventh-place finish in the Grade 1 Franklin-Simpson at Keeneland on Sept. 6.  Under Joel Rosario, Out On Bail stayed on the rail down the backside, was able to gradually work his way into the clear and then outfinished a wide-rallying 30-1 Cyclonite to get the narrow victory. It was 3 1/2 lengths back to 6-5 favored Spiced Up.  “I was in a good spot,” Rosario told NYRA publicity. “The way the trip was working out, it looked like I had to come out at some point because there was no room inside. The horse responded and it looked for a second like that [Cyclonite] was coming to get us, but my horse kept fighting. A lot of credit to the horse.”  Out on Bail, a New York-bred son of Tiz the Law owned by Case Cambers and Paradise Farms Corp. and David Staudacher and trained by Mike Maker, covered six furlongs in 1:08.69 and returned $8.36 as the second choice.  Davis, on Cyclonite, said he tried to keep Out On Bail hemmed in on the inside “but he had a lot of momentum and got out,” Davis said. “It was tight to the wire and my horse started coming back on there late and to be honest, I thought I had it, but the photo said otherwise. He ran a great race.”  :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering? Check out DRF's Handicapping 101 and Wagering 101 pages.
