Ready for Candy made it three straight wins for her new connections on Saturday as she took advantage of a dream trip under Ricardo Santana Jr. to outfinish upset-minded Fast Market and win the Grade 2, $200,000 Sands Point Stakes for 3-year-old turf fillies by a neck at Aqueduct.  It was the third win in as many starts for Ready for Candy since being purchased in February for $400,000 at the Fasig-Tipton mixed sale by the Lindy Farms of Frank and Jerry Antonacci. Phil Antonacci, the son of Frank and nephew of Jerry, trains Ready for Candy.  Prior to Saturday, Ready for Candy won a maiden race at Saratoga in August and the Grade 3 Winter Memories at Aqueduct in September.  In the Sands Point, Ready for Candy received a beautiful trip under Santana. Paradise City, who Ready for Candy beat by a nose in the Winter Memories, went to the lead and Boca Queen, after being taken a hold of by Sahin Civaci and moved to the outside, went to press Paradise City.  :: Access morning workout reports straight from the tracks and get an edge with DRF Clocker Reports Ready for Candy sat by herself in third for most of the run down the backstretch, while sitting up close to a pedestrian pace. In upper stretch, with Boca Queen tiring and moving a path to the outside, Santana got Ready for Candy off the rail in prime position to go after Paradise City.  In midstretch, she was joined to the outside by Fast Market, but Ready for Candy outfinished that rival. Fast Market, coming out of a maiden win on Sept. 21, finished 1 3/4 lengths clear of Pretty Picture.  Boca Queen was fourth, followed by Paradise City, Griselda, Decadent, and Winfity.  Antonacci said he was a little worried in midstretch when Fast Market came with her run under Samuel Marin.  “It looked like she got the jump on us,” Antonacci said. “Our filly, she fights. She pins her ears back, puts her head down and keeps driving. She has a will to win, which we needed.”  Ready for Candy, a daughter of Twirling Candy, covered the 1 1/8 miles over firm turf in 1:49.44 and returned $4.38 as the even-money favorite.  “Turning for home, I asked and she gave me a really nice kick,” Santana told NYRA publicity. “I had a little room so I could get around [Paradise City] and she was much the best today. When my filly put her head in front, I knew the other one was never going to pass her. She fights until the end.”  Antonacci said he will contemplate several options for Ready for Candy including the Grade 3, $175,000 Pebbles at Aqueduct on Nov. 16, the Grade 1 American Oaks typically run at Santa Anita on Dec. 26, or just shutting her down for the year and pointing to a 4-year-old campaign.  “We’ll let her tell us what she wants to do,” Antonacci said. “I wouldn’t be opposed to shutting her down.”  :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
