Razorback Lady a standout in Added Elegance Stakes

Not all stakes races are created equal. There’s a substantial difference between the graded races in which Razorback Lady has proven competitive this year and the “never won a stakes” condition of the $75,000 Added Elegance, a seven-furlong race in which the Arkansas-bred filly should be a solid favorite Saturday at Gulfstream Park in South Florida.
Based at Palm Meadows with owner-trainer Patrick Biancone, Razorback Lady will be looking to leverage her on-the-board finishes in the Grade 2 Inside Information and Grade 2 Princess Rooney when she faces 10 other fillies and mares in the Added Elegance. Reylu Gutierrez will be aboard the dark bay filly when they break from post 2.

Razorback Lady made her quality known early in a 12-race career that has unfolded entirely at Gulfstream. She won a maiden race in September 2017, then finished second in an ungraded stakes in her next race. After opening her 3-year-old season with three defeats, she really came to hand in four races at the winter championship meet, including a runner-up finish in the Inside Information. Most recently, she was fourth after setting the pace in the June 29 Princess Rooney.
If Razorback Lady is to be upset, the most likely prospects include Royal Asscher, Heiressall, and Ms Meshak.
The Added Elegance, named for the Frank Gomez-trained star of the late 1980s, goes as the 11th of 12 races on a Saturday card that begins at 12:45 p.m. Eastern. The feature is set for 5:54 and is part of a Rainbow 6 sequence (races 7-12) that offered a jackpot of $245,975 when the four-day race week began Thursday.
The first six-figure stakes of the Gulf summer meet, the opening legs to the Florida Sire Stakes series, are set for next Saturday, Aug. 3.

Razorback Lady, by Overdriven
Last 3 Beyers: 75-76-89
◗ Adept from five to seven furlongs, she tends to be closer to the pace as the distances get longer, and it’s likely she’ll be daring all others to catch her as the field leaves the backstretch chute.
Royal Asscher, by Tale of Ekati
Last 3 Beyers: 81-87-87
◗ A nine-time winner making her 30th start, this 5-year-old mare has won two of three starts since being claimed for $12,500 by trainer Gustavo Delgado at the championship meet.
Heiressall, by Wildcat Heir
Last 3 Beyers: 75-60-75
◗ The outside post can afford this Florida-bred filly and jockey Miguel Vasquez a comfortable stalking trip as she makes her first start in 10 weeks. She is trained by Terri Pompay.
Ms Meshak, by Shackleford
Last 3 Beyers: 71-76-86
◗ Although her spring in Kentucky was unproductive, her speed surely has been sharpened to a razor’s edge as she exits a couple of swift turf sprints at Churchill Downs.
