Ransom the Moon gets some rest

Trainer Phil D’Amato said that the top sprinter Ransom the Moon had been turned out after finishing fifth in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint.
Ransom the Moon scored his biggest win of the year in the Grade 1 Bing Crosby here July 29. He also was fourth Oct. 7 in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Sprint Championship to Roy H, who also won the Breeders’ Cup Sprint.
“He’s been turned out for 30 days,” D’Amato said. “We squeezed a bunch of races into a short amount of time. Now we’ll look forward to a 2018 campaign.”
Hunt possible for Seabiscuit
A workout on the Del Mar turf Sunday will determine whether Hunt runs in the Grade 2, $200,000 Seabiscuit Handicap on closing day, Nov. 26.
Hunt most recently finished last of 13 in the Breeders’ Cup Turf, but he was a two-time stakes winner here during the summer meet.
The Seabiscuit, at 1 1/16 miles, is expected to include A Red Tie Day, Dressed in Hermes, Madame Stripes, Mr. Roary, Om, Pee Wee Reese, and Win the Space.
◗ Longacres Mile winner Gold Rush Dancer was entered on Thursday in the $100,000 Cary Grant Stakes for California-breds on Sunday. The field for the seven-furlong race was expected to also include California Diamond, Edwards Going Left, Green With Eddie, Jimmy Bouncer, Love My Bud, Prime Issue, Smokey Image, Solid Wager, and Tribal Storm.
