Rancho Bernardo target for Pretty N Cool, Enchanting Lady

DEL MAR, Calif. – Pretty N Cool and Enchanting Lady gave trainer Bob Baffert a sweep of the exacta in Wednesday’s $77,600 California Equine Retirement Foundation Stakes at Del Mar. The same two fillies will give Baffert a strong team for the $100,000 Rancho Bernardo Handicap for fillies and mares at 6 1/2 furlongs on Aug. 17.
The Grade 3 Rancho Bernardo Handicap is the top race for female sprinters at the summer meeting.

Pretty N Cool had not raced since January, when Baffert turned her out, saying he was not pleased with her training. Enchanting Lady rebounded from a fifth at 4-5 in the Grade 3 Winning Colors Stakes at Churchill Downs in late May.
“I was glad to see them run well,” Baffert said on Thursday. “It was a positive race for Enchanting Lady. She went backward on me at Churchill Downs.”
Pretty N Cool ($8) ran six furlongs in 1:09.07 and won by 1 1/2 lengths.
Pretty N Cool, 3, races for Mike Pegram, Karl Watson, and Paul Weitman. By Scat Daddy, Pretty N Cool has won 4 of 8 starts and earned $432,560. She won two Grade 2 sprints for 2-year-old fillies in 2015 – the Sorrento Stakes here in August and the Matron Stakes at Belmont Park.
