DEL MAR, Calif. – Judy the Beauty, Reneesgotzip, and Santa Anita Oaks winner Fashion Plate are among the prospective field for the Grade 3, $150,000 Rancho Bernardo Handicap on Sunday at Del Mar.

Judy the Beauty has not raced since finishing fourth in the Humana Distaff at Churchill Downs on Kentucky Derby Day, May 3. Prior to that, she won the Grade 1 Madison at Keeneland on Polytrack. She owns five wins in six starts on synthetic surfaces.

Reneesgotzip is making her first start since Nov. 2, when she finished in a dead heat for second in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint.

Fashion Plate has not raced since finishing ninth of 13 in the Acorn at Belmont Park on Belmont Stakes Day, June 7. Prior to that, she was 11th of 12 in the Kentucky Oaks. Trainer Simon Callaghan said he would enter Fashion Plate in the Del Mar Oaks at 1 1/8 miles on turf Saturday, as well as the Rancho Bernardo, which is against older females at 6 1/2 furlongs on Polytrack.

If Fashion Plate runs in the Rancho Bernardo, it would be her first start against her elders. If she runs in the Oaks, it would be her first start on turf.

“We’ll enter and take a look at both,” Callaghan said.

Others likely for the Rancho Bernardo include Amaranth and the comebacker Madame Cactus, the winner of the Grade 2 Raven Run Stakes last October at Keeneland.

The Rancho Bernardo will not include Living The Life, a stylish allowance winner in her North American debut Aug. 7. Trainer Gary Mandella said he wanted to give her more time until her next start.
