Rampellini: Oaklawn Park horses to watch for week of Jan. 30, 2019
JERSEY AGENDA
Trainer: Steve Asmussen
Last race: Jan. 26, 7th
Finish: 1st by 2 3/4
Beyer: 84
He convincingly handled a pair of significant new variables in a first-level allowance at a mile. It was his first race against winners – and he faced a deep field – as well as his first race around two turns. Asmussen said Jersey Agenda is now being considered for the Grade 3, $500,000 Southwest on Feb. 18 at Oaklawn.
JO MARIE
Trainer: Jinks Fires
Last race: Jan. 27, 9th
Finish: 3rd by 5
Beyer: 62
She made her two-turn debut in a maiden special weight for 3-year-old fillies and closed for third behind a front-running winner. Fires said he feels she is a talented sort who will prove best around two turns.
ROSE OF MALIBU
Trainer: C.R. Trout
Last race: Jan. 27, 7th
Finish: 2nd by 3 1/2
Beyer: 88
She went against the grain when she closed from last for second behind a wire-to-wire winner in an optional $75,000 claiming route for fillies and mares at a mile. She was 11 lengths back early, farther off the pace than usual, after breaking last off all.
