Rampellini: Oaklawn horses to watch for week of Feb. 13, 2019
MALIBU MAX
Trainer: Mac Robertson
Last Race: Feb. 18, 8th
Finish: 2nd by seven lengths
Beyer: 86
He appears to be sitting on a strong meet. He made his first start since September in an allowance that drew a trio of Grade 3 winners and rallied for second in the slop behind a dominant sort who popped a career-high Beyer Speed Figure of 99. As for this one, four of his six career wins have come at Oaklawn.
ZIPPY LOU
Trainer: Brad Cox
Last Race: Feb. 9, 4th
Finish: 5th by nine lengths
Beyer: 32
She made her first start since May in a maiden special weight for Arkansas-breds and contested the pace over a laboring track. It was a productive comeback race.
REELFOOT
Trainer: Will Van Meter
Last Race: Feb. 9, 5th
Finish: 6th by 11 lengths
Beyer: 55
He was making his first start in 2 1/2 months in a maiden special weight route and was with the pace on a track rated good – a comeback race from which he can move forward. In his prior start he was a close-up third to eventual Holy Bull winner Harvey Wallbanger in a maiden race at Churchill.
