Group 1 winner in Argentina pulled away from a nice field of fillies and mares in the final sixteenth of an allowance route that marked her first start since June and first in North America. NIGHT OPS
Trainer: Brad Cox
Last race: Feb. 9, 8th
Finish: 1st by 1/2
Beyer: 89
He overcame post 11 to win an allowance route that drew six stakes winners. He was hung five wide into the first turn, traveled three wide while advancing around the second bend, and had enough in the stretch to hold off the late run of Canadian champion Sky Promise. He looks like a stakes winner in the making.
SMACK ATTACK
Trainer: Don Von Hemel
Last race: Feb. 7, 6th
Finish: 6th by 15 1/4 lengths
Beyer: 46
He can make a real move forward when it’s time to stretch out to two turns as his half-brother Smack Smack was a Grade 3 winner at the configuration, running out $986,419. This one is a nice-looking 3-year-old by Into Mischief. He drew the tough rail post for his debut, which came in a maiden special weight sprint against older rivals.
