Raised a Secret scores by a head in Harris Farm Stakes

Raised a Secret ran down front-running favorite Richard’s Boy in the closing strides, edging the favorite by a head to score his first stakes victory in the $100,105 Harris Farm Stakes at the Big Fresno Fair on Sunday.
Richard’s Boy, who had the outside post 7, won the pace duel from Cartoonist in the six-furlong race for California-breds. He was a head in front of the longest shot in the field with a 22.47-second opening quarter and was one-half length in front through a 44.81 opening half.
Raised a Secret ($8) sat in fourth early behind the comebacking multiple stakes-winning Wake Up Nick, who began to fade approaching the quarter pole. The 5-year-old Raise a Secret was still 1 1/2 lengths back at the eighth pole but was digging in determinedly.
Under Juan Hernandez, Raised a Secret continued to cut into Richard’s Boy’s margin, pulling even in the shadow of the wire before prevailing by a head. The winning time was 1:09.14.
Gangnam Guy wound up third, another 8 1/4 lengths back.
A $15,000 Barretts yearling purchase, Raised a Secret earned $57,000 for owner Rodney E. Orr with his fifth victory in 24 starts. Trained by Mark Glatt, he has now earned $400,610.
