The Rainbow pick six is structured to have a carryover if there is more than one winning ticket, a format that changes only when the track announces a mandatory payout. There has been a single winning ticket once at the meeting – worth $323,024 on Dec. 31.
The March 6 program will be the second time the track has had a mandatory payout at the meeting. On Feb. 6, a mandatory payout led to a payoff of $24,653. The carryover into that program was $898,062. Bettors added $5,316,575 to the pool that day.
◗ Morning routines were disrupted in the Santa Anita barn area Wednesday because of a broken water main on the west side of the stables. Barns were unable to draw water from hoses, trainers said, with water being provided by trucks that periodically traveled through the stables. The incident led to expanded training hours Wednesday.
