Rainbow 6 jackpot tops $5 million
HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Friday’s main event is a five-furlong optional-claiming dash on turf that drew a field of nine turf-sprint specialists led by Petey Cramer, At Large, and Oration. Other key contenders in the wide-open race include Zippin On By and Breitling Flyer.
The $48,750 main event will be the third leg in the Rainbow 6 sequence, with the jackpot standing at more than $5.16 million entering Friday’s eight-race program. The Rainbow 6 will kick off with the first 2-year-old race of the meet. A field of seven 2-year-old fillies will go 4 1/2 furlongs, topped by trainer Wesley Ward’s duo of likely favorite Goodbye Sorrow and Cognac Cutie.
Fast Anna, indeed
While trainer Kathy Ritvo waits for her big horse, Mucho Macho Man, to get back to the races, she’s got herself another top prospect to work with in Frank Calabrese’s 3-year-old homebred Fast Anna. A son of Medaglia d’Oro out of Calabrese’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies winner Dreaming of Anna, Fast Anna launched his career with an impressive 2 1/4-length maiden special weight victory Saturday. Fast Anna completed six furlongs in 1:09.92 with Ritvo’s son, Michael, aboard.
