Rainbow 6 carryover among highlights on Thursday card
HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Thursday’s 10-race card at Gulfstream is highlighted by the eighth event, a $40,000 optional-claiming test at a mile for Florida-bred 3-year-old fillies that drew a pretty familiar field of nine, topped by Bitacora and Sober On Sunday. But the most intriguing contest of the day comes about 30 minutes later, a one-mile maiden special weight race that drew first-time starters from two powerhouse barns, Legit for trainer Todd Pletcher and Our Honor from the stable of Chad Brown.
Legit, by Curlin, is owned by Repole Stable. He’s been training steadily at Pletcher’s winter base at Palm Beach Downs. Our Honor, a son of Union Rags and the younger half-brother of Grade 3 winner Rich Mommy, has also not missed a beat of late working just down the road at the Palm Meadows training center in Boynton Beach.
Thursday’s card also offers a Rainbow 6 carryover of $377,314
◗ The first two stakes of the spring-summer session are on tap Saturday, the $75,000 Roar for 3-year-olds and its filly counterpart, the $75,000 Game Face. Both races will be decided at seven furlongs while restricted to horses who have never won a stakes.
The most prominent name on the nomination lists for the two races is that of the undefeated King Humor, who’ll enter the Roar off two victories, including a one-length allowance win going seven furlongs here earlier this month.
