Rain pushes back Mine That Bird's work

Because the Churchill Downs surface was still wet from heavy weekend rain, trainer Chip Woolley decided Monday morning to delay by one day a scheduled workout for Mine That Bird. Instead he had a routine gallop.

After a scheduled Tuesday work with Jamie Theriot aboard, Mine That Bird likely will be able to work the following two Mondays, July 13 and 20, said Woolley. Mine That Bird is tentatively scheduled to leave Churchill in time to get in one workout at Mountaineer Park in Chester, W.Va., where the gelding will make his next start in the $750,000 West Virginia Derby on Aug. 1.
