Raglan Road ready to break through in Victorian Queen

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – In her first five starts, Raglan Road has won twice and finished third or better in stakes three times. She will look to take the next step and record her first stakes win in Sunday’s $125,000 Victorian Queen Stakes for Ontario-sired 2-year old fillies over six furlongs on Woodbine’s Tapeta main track.
Raglan Road comes into the Victorian Queen off of a three-length win over Green Freedom in an allowance race over six furlongs on Tapeta here Sept. 30. She finished third in the Muskoka in August, third in the My Dear in July, and second to Victorian Queen rival Conquest Vivi in the Nandi Stakes on June 25.
Gary Boulanger rides Raglan Road on Sunday, and he was aboard for her four-furlong breeze in 49.80 seconds Oct. 25 on the Tapeta.
“He said she felt real good,” trainer John Ross said. “We’re coming up to the race the way we want.”
Raglan Road has been forwardly placed in all five of her starts.
“She’s typically got away running, so far, and we don’t want to take anything away from her,” he said. “She can be a little bit off of it, but typically she’s had a lot of gas coming out of the gate.”
