Rachel Alexandra, one of the top 3-year-old fillies in the nation, will make her next start in the Grade 2, $400,000 Fair Grounds Oaks on March 14, her trainer, Hal Wiggins, said Saturday. She won her 3-year-old debut at Oaklawn on Feb. 15, coasting by eight lengths in the $50,000 Martha Washington. Rachel Alexandra earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 99.\n She galloped back for the first time this morning and galloped fine, nice and relaxed, said Wiggins, who trains Rachel Alexandra for the partnership of Dolph Morrison and Mike Lauffer. \nRachel Alexandra closed out her 2-year-old season with a win in the Grade 2 Golden Rod at Churchill Downs on Nov. 29. A top candidate for the Kentucky Oaks, she is based at Oaklawn and had also been under consideration for that track s Grade 3, $100,000 Honeybee Stakes on March 15. Wiggins said Rachel Alexandra would likely ship to Fair Grounds in New Orleans on March 10 or 11 for the 1 1/16-mile Fair Grounds Oaks. Her final breeze for that race is tentatively scheduled for March 9 at Oaklawn.\nRachel Alexandra is a daughter of Medaglia d Oro and Lotta Kim, who won the Tiffany Lass at Fair Grounds in 2004.
