R Kinsley Doll more than qualified to win Added Elegance Stakes

At first, Rich Averill wasn’t sure that his latest stable star, R Kinsley Doll, was eligible for the $50,000 Added Elegance, the Saturday feature at Gulfstream Park. But the Added Elegance is open to fillies and mares who have not won an open stakes, and R Kinsley Doll has won only restricted stakes, allowing trainer Ralph Ziadie to enter her on behalf of Averill and Silver Oak Stables in the seven-furlong race.
With a field-high bankroll of $312,513, R Kinsley Doll looks like the horse to beat when the 11th of 12 races is run Saturday at the south Florida track.
R Kinsley Doll, with Emisael Jaramillo to ride, will be looking to rebound off a poor effort two Saturdays ago in her first crack at turf racing.
“She didn’t care for the turf,” Averill, 41, said this week by phone during a working vacation at Saratoga. “She acted like she didn’t even run afterward – she didn’t drink any water and wasn’t blowing or anything. We’re hoping that race will help toward this.”
R Kinsley Doll is named for Averill’s daughter Kinsley. Like many of his horses, the filly’s name starts with the letter R and is owned in a partnership.
“It’s become our signature,” said Averill, who owns a masonry company in his hometown of Bradenton, Fla.
Seven others are entered against R Kinsley Doll, most notably More Than a Party, Sweet Khaleesi, Cult Classic, and Catsadiva.
The Added Elegance, named for a stakes-winning filly trained by the late Frank Gomez in the mid-1980s, is part of a Rainbow 6 sequence that spans races 7-12. The jackpot in the 20-cent Rainbow 6 stood at $350,510 into Thursday.
First post is 12:45 p.m. Eastern, with the feature set for 6:04.
