Coady Photography R Frosty One wins the Malvern Rose Stakes by 2 1/2 lengths Sunday at Presque Isle Downs.

R Frosty One became a stakes winner Sunday at Presque Isle Downs after she jumped out to the lead and never looked back for a 2 1/2-length victory in the $75,000 Malvern Rose. Zig Zag finished second, six lengths clear of the third-place finisher Valued Strike.

The Malvern Rose was a 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-old fillies bred in Pennsylvania.

R Frosty One ($7.20) set the tone from the start, taking the field through fractions of 23.94 seconds for the opening quarter, 48.21 for the first half-mile, and 1:12.80 for six furlongs. Zig Zag moved to the leader in the stretch, but R Frosty One had more and went on to cover the distance on a track rated fast in 1:44.22.

Pablo Morales rode the winner for Sajor Stable and trainer Murray Rojas.

R Frosty One now has won 4 of 7 starts and $141,803. She was bred by Gayle B. Gerth Trust.
