R Adios Jersey takes Sheer Drama, Rainbow 6 hit by multiple tickets

R Adios Jersey raced without blinkers for the first time in her career Saturday in the $65,000 Sheer Drama at Gulfstream Park and bounded to a 6 1/2-length win in the Florida-bred race that was part of the Rainbow 6 sequence featuring a mandatory payout.
The Rainbow 6, which had not been hit for 20 cards, returned $11,351 to multiple tickets. There was a jackpot carryover pool of $338,557 into Saturday’s races and another $1,804,569 was bet on the sequence that ran on races 5-10.
R Adios Jersey ($4.20) was one of two winning favorites in the Rainbow 6. She moved to the lead soon after the start and was clear through an opening quarter in 22.45 seconds, a half-mile in 45.30, and six furlongs in 1:10.27. R Adios Jersey poured it on over the final furlong, covering seven furlongs on a track rated “good” in 1:23.28.
Edwin Gonzalez was aboard for trainer Georgina Baxter.
Charlie’s Wish finished second, while it was another 5 1/2 lengths back in third to Race Day Speed.
R Adios Jersey is a daughter of Adios Charlie owned by Averill Racing, ATM Racing, and Jayson Werth.
The Rainbow 6 opened with a $38 winner in War Cross. In the second leg, Secret Chat ($9) rolled by seven lengths in his debut. Flag Woman ($7.80) won the third leg of the Rainbow 6 and was followed by the first winning favorite in the sequence, Volcanic ($5.80). R Adios Jersey delivered before the final leg, which went to the rail-surging Macassa ($20). There were 1,392 live tickets heading into the final leg Saturday.
The winning Rainbow 6 numbers were 4-1-7-3-3-1.
