Quip possible for Pimlico Special or Stephen Foster Handicap

Quip returned to the track Wednesday following his Saturday win in the Grade 2, $750,000 Oaklawn Handicap.
“He looked bright,” said trainer Rodolphe Brisset. “I was real happy with him. It was a good day.”
Brisset said Quip was flown to Keeneland, where he will now be based, following his Saturday win. He said the horse may be nominated to the Grade 3, $300,000 Pimlico Special on May 17, while another possibility is the Grade 2, $600,000 Stephen Foster on June 15 at Churchill Downs.
“I’m pretty sure we’ll take a hard look at the Stephen Foster,” said Brisset, who trains Quip for WinStar Farm, China Horse Club International, and S F Racing.
Quip won at the Stephen Foster’s 1 1/8-mile distance in the Oaklawn Handicap, holding off a fast-closing Lone Sailor by a neck to earn a career-high Beyer Speed Figure of 98. Lone Sailor returned home to Churchill Downs on Sunday.
“I thought he ran great,” said trainer Tom Amoss.
“He’s back in Louisville. I don’t know what the next step is, but he’s now a millionaire, and we’re very proud of him.”
Lone Sailor earned $150,000 for his runner-up finish for G M B Racing to push his career bankroll to $1,124,737.
