Trainer Ned Allard said this week that 4-year-old gelding Quint’s Brew is working back from a “minor issue” and will not race again until the fall. The budding Mid-Atlantic runner shipped to New York in his last two starts and finished second in a pair of graded stakes. “It’s just going to require some time off,” Allard said. “You’ll see him in the fall and he’ll be just fine.” Allard did not specify what the issue was but claimed it was not severe enough to keep the horse out of action indefinitely. Quint’s Brew recorded his last published workout on June 2, breezing through four furlongs in 49.80 seconds at Delaware Park. :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing! Following the Grade 3 Westchester on May 4, in which the gelding dueled to the wire in a losing effort against 5-year-old horse Bishops Bay, Allard intended to give Quint’s Brew time off anyway. The trainer cited a grueling pair of races at Aqueduct as reason to let him rest. In April, he finished a neck behind 4-year-old colt Crazy Mason in the Grade 2 Carter. Before shipping to New York for his last two starts, Quint’s Brew won four of his first five career starts at Laurel Park and earned two stakes victories to kick off his 2025 campaign. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
