Quietside, winner of last year’s Grade 2 Fantasy at Oaklawn, has been retired and is scheduled to be bred to Nyquist, according to her trainer, John Ortiz. The millionaire was seventh in the Grade 2 Azeri last weekend at Oaklawn, one start after running third in the track’s Grade 3 Bayakoa won by champion Nitrogen. Ortiz said John Ed Anthony, who bred and owns Quietside, made the decision to retire the daughter of Malibu Moon. “She will be going to Stone Farm in Kentucky and she is booked to Nyquist,” Ortiz said. “She’ll be staying up there. We’re wishing her a happy retirement. There has been talk about maybe bringing her back in foal, but we’ll all just see how she takes to the farm life first and we’ll go from there. We’re happy with the journey she took us on, and I’m super thankful to Mr. John Ed Anthony and the Shortleaf Stable Team.” – additional reporting by Nicole Russo :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
