Quiet Again proves uncatchable in Curribot

Quiet Again took the lead at the start of the $50,000 Curribot at Sunland Park on Sunday and never relinquished it to win the 1 1/16-mile race by a length over favorite Red Lead. It was another half-length back in third to Imco Spirit.
Quiet Again ($11.60) and his rider, Ken Tohill, controlled the tempo of the Curribot, with the horse setting fractions of 25.29 seconds for the opening quarter, 49.54 for the half-mile, and 1:12.96 for six furlongs. Quiet Again had more in the drive, and went on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:47.42.
Jimmie Claridge trains Quiet Again for Paul Thomason. Quiet Again came into the Curribot off a runner-up finish to the Grade 1-placed mare Taptam in the $100,000 Star of Texas at Sam Houston Race Park. Taptam is set to return to racing with fillies and mares Saturday in the $100,000 Bayakoa at Oaklawn.
Quiet Again, meanwhile, has now won 12 of 35 starts and $431,928. He picked up his fifth stakes win in the Curribot.
The Curribot is one of the local steppingstones to the $100,000 Sunland Park Handicap on April 17.
