Quien, Mr. Mabee to Nicks Farm in Indiana

Nicks Farm in Sellersburg, Ind., will add veteran stallions Quien and Mr. Mabee to its roster for the 2018 breeding season, each standing for $1,000.

Quien, a placed 13-year-old Pulpit horse, previously stood at Southern Indiana Equine Center. He has sired six crops of racing age, with 19 winners and combined progeny earnings of $937,829, led by stakes winners I’m Workin On It and Gliding Alone.

Bred in Kentucky by Richard Maynard, Quien is out of the unraced Storm Cat mare Stormy Bear, whose three winners from seven runners include Grade 1-placed stakes winner Mr. Z, U.S. stakes-placed Andean, and U.A.E. stakes-placed Ibn Al Nafis.

He is from the family of two-time Canadian Horse of the Year Chief Bearhart, Panamanian champion and Grade 1 winner Private Zone, Grade 1 winner Explosive Red, Grade/Group 2 winner Strut the Stage and Multidimensional, and Grade/Group 3 winners Sacred Song and Aldous Snow.

Mr. Mabee, a 16-year-old Storm Cat horse, was a prior resident of Poplar Creek Horse Center in Ohio. His seven crops of racing age feature 41 winners and earnings of more than $2.1 million, topped by stakes winner She Mabee Wild and stakes-placed Hot Wind and Star Mabee.

The stallion, a stakes winner, is out of the Grade 3-placed stakes-winning Flying Paster mare Young Flyer, who is the dam of six winners from eight runners. Mr. Mabee is a half-brother to Grade 1 winners River Flyer and Victory Ride, as well as stakes-placed First Flyer and Lovely Pet.

Mr. Mabee’s extended family features Grade 1 winner Slew’s Exceller, Grade 2 winner Worldly Manner Grade/Group 3 winners Don Cavallo, Slew O’Dyna, and Admiral’s Cruise, and Saudi Arabian champion Akheel.
