Querari puts his Arlington Million credentials on the line at Munich on Sunday when he seeks a second successive Group 1 triumph in the 1 1/5-mile, $200,000 Bayerisches Zuchtrennen. A 4-year-old son of Oasis Dream, he has been freshened since his May 16 victory in the 1 1/4-mile, Prmeio Presidente della Repubblica at the Capannelle in Rome. Trained by Andreas Wohler, the man who engineered the 2001 Million victory of Silvano, Querari will be ridden, as usual, by Eduardo Pedroza, the Panamanian jockey who has been the champion rider in Germany each of the last three years.Godolphin trainer Saeed bin Suroor will challenge Querari with Alexandros. A Kingmambo 5-year-old, he beat Crowded House by 3 1/2 lengths when taking the one-mile, Group 3 Al Rashidiya on the Meydan turf in February and was most recently was a neck second in Epsom’s 1 1/16-mile, Group 3 Diomed Stakes. Frankie Dettori will ride. Norderney was placed first in the 1 1/4-mile, Group 3 Grosser Preis der Wirtschaft at Dortmund, where Soclari finished a nose behind him in being placed second. Liang Kay, trained in France by Yann Lerner but raced almost exclusively in Germany, has been placed frequently in Group 3 races but has failed to live up to the potential of his Group 2 Union-Oppenheim-Rennen victory two years ago. More dangerous is the 4-year-old filly Night Magic, the winner versus males of the 1 3/8-mile, Group 2 Grosser Preis der Badischen at Hoppegarten in Berlin on June 6. A second femals, and a second British raider, comes in the form of the Mark Johnston-trained Lady Jane Digby, who was third in the 11 1/2-mile, Group 2 Lancashire Oaks at Haydock on July 3.
