He ran to his pedigree stamina by winning the 2013 Preakness Stakes by 1 3/4 lengths, and then finishing second in the Belmont Stakes. Oxbow’s most accomplished runner is Hot Rod Charlie, who, after winning the 2021 Louisiana Derby, crossed the line third, beaten just a length, in the Kentucky Derby. She is the dam of two winners from as many starters, with Rondure joined by the Alberta-bred Carat’s Song, also a dirt-sprint maiden special winner. Carat Weight is out of stakes-placed Simply Precious, making her a half-sister to stakes winner Bear’s Gem and stakes-placed Peggy O.
