Queen's Plate pedigree profile: Moira

Moira
Ghostzapper – Devine Aida, by Unbridled’s Song
Bred in Ontario by Adena Springs ($150,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase by X-Men Racing)
If Moira runs well in the Woodbine Oaks on Sunday she will likely try to become the third Queen’s Plate winner for her sire, Ghostzapper, a homebred and leading sire for the Adena Springs operation.
Horse of the Year Ghostzapper, by Queen’s Plate winner Awesome Again, was a brilliant runner around both one and two turns as a racehorse. He has developed into a consistent and versatile sire who has had a fair amount of success in Canada.
Of his six career champions – including Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint winner and Eclipse Award winner Judy the Beauty – four have come in Canada, led by 2015 Queen’s Plate winner Shaman Ghost, who went on to win the Grade 1 Woodward Stakes in 2016 and Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap in 2017 and retired with more than $3.8 million in earnings.
Ghostzapper also is the sire of Canadian champions Holy Helena, winner of the 2017 Woodbine Oaks and Queen’s Plate, Hunters Bay, and Theodora B.
Devine Aida was a Grade 2-placed stakes winner routing on turf. She is the dam of two winners from as many starters, with Moira – winner of the Princess Elizabeth and Fury stakes and second in the Grade 3 Mazarine in her three career starts – joined by Jungle Cry, winner of Robert Dupret Derby last year at Golden Gate Fields.
Devine Aida is out of Grade 3 winner Passion. This is the family of Grade 1 winners Data Link and Hymn Book and graded/group stakes winners Gemologo, Gustavus Weston, Kumari Continent, Ms Peintour, Roshani, and Strike the Bell.
