Dotted Line announced himself by winning the Frost King Stakes and Kingarvie Stakes as a juvenile. This summer, the gelding has turned in solid third-place finishes in the Grade 3 Marine Stakes and the Plate Trial Stakes to keep himself in Queen’s Plate contention for Norseman Racing Stable and trainer Sid Attard. A victory would mean classic success for a tough and consistent family.
The Florida-bred Outflanker mare Springledge won 12 of her 67 starts in a career that lasted from ages 3 to 10. She finished second by three-quarters of a length in the Labatt Cup Stakes at Fort Erie as a 9-year-old. Springledge, who is from the extended family of English champion miler Carlemont, is the dam of three stakes winners, most recently Dotted Line. Her daughter Generous Touch won the Passing Mood Stakes, Eternal Search Stakes, and Ruling Angel Stakes as a 3-year-old. Later, her son Signature Spring won the Colin Stakes as a juvenile.
Dotted Line and Signature Spring are two of the five stakes winners by Signature Red, who has five crops of racing age. Signature Red, by Bernstein, twice won the Grade 2 Highlander Stakes at six furlongs on the Woodbine turf.
