Queen's Plate pedigree profile: Desert Ride
Desert Ride
Candy Ride - Fun in the Desert, by Distorted Humor
Bred in Ontario by Sam-Son Farm
Woodbine Oaks winner Desert Ride, who races as a homebred for storied Sam-Son Farm, sports an outstanding classic-type pedigree laden with stamina on both sides of her page.
Desert Ride is by Candy Ride, who set a Del Mar track record going 1 1/4 miles in the Pacific Classic, and who has passed distance ability on to his offspring. Horse of the Year Gun Runner was a Grade 1 winner at 1 1/4 miles, and also finished a creditable third in the Kentucky Derby, giving way grudgingly after leading near the quarter pole. Champion Shared Belief scored Grade 1 victories at 1 1/4 miles in the Pacific Classic and Santa Anita Handicap, defeating California Chrome and Hoppertunity in the Big Cap. Another of Candy Ride’s sons, Misremembered, also won the Santa Anita Handicap.

Eye of the Sphynx is a half-sister to filly classic winner Quiet Cleo, the dam of Canadian Horse of the Year Quiet Resolve.
