Dance Some Mo is out of Dance Again, a half-sister to Canadian classic-placed Swoop and Strike. Winner of the Carotene Stakes at Woodbine and third in the Grade 2 Mrs. Revere on the Churchill Downs turf, Dance Again is the dam of a pair of winners from as many starters.
Dance Again’s granddam is Canadian champion Dancethruthedawn, winner of the 2001 Woodbine Oaks and Queen’s Plate and then second in the Prince of Wales, the second leg of the Canadian Triple Crown. She was later a Grade 1 winner in New York.
Dancethruthedawn was one of two Canadian classic winners produced by the great Dance Smartly, Canada’s Horse of the Year in 1991, when she swept the Canadian Triple Crown and went on to take the Breeders’ Cup Distaff. In total, she won 12 of 17 starts, including 10 stakes, and earned more than $3.2 million.
As a broodmare, she was equally prolific, producing Scatter the Gold, who won the 2000 Queen’s Plate and Prince of Wales before finishing third in his Triple Crown bid in the Breeders’ Stakes, followed by Dancethruthedawn. Dance Smartly also produced Grade 2 winner Dance With Ravens, Grade 3-placed Dance to Destiny, and stakes-placed Dance Brightly.
Dance Smartly was out of fellow Canadian champion Classy ’n Smart. This storied family is also responsible for Eclipse and Sovereign Award champion Sky Classic; Canadian champions Always a Classic, El Tormenta, Grey Classic, Hello Seattle, Regal Classic, and Say the Word; Grade 1 winner and leading sire Smart Strike; and Grade 1 winners Full of Wonder and Moreno.
