Queen of Tee wins maiden in $100K stakes

Queen of Tee prevailed in a stretch long duel to win her first career race in the $100,000 City of Anderson at Hoosier Park on Saturday.

Trained by Genaro Garcia, Queen of Tee stayed just behind the pacesetting Z What U Got, part of a 1-2 entry, through brisk opening fractions. She rallied to the lead into the stretch and then held off Nightly Ritual to prevail by a neck under Inosencio Diego.

Queen of Tee, a 2-year-old daughter of Lil E. Tee, was making her third lifetime start. Nightly Ritual, under Eddie Zuniga, could not get by late and was 6 1/4 lengths ahead of the other part of the favored entry, Trust N Seven, who finished third.

Queen of Tee returned $20.40 to win in the field of eight Indiana-bred 2-year-old fillies as a part of an entry with Maid to a Tee, the seventh-place finisher. The running time for the 5 1/2-furlong City of Anderson was 1.05.20 over a fast track.
