SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Trainer Chad Brown said the Grade 1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup at Keeneland on Oct 15 would currently be the goal for Haughty after her wire-to-wire victory here Saturday in the Grade 2 Lake Placid. Haughty was one of four fillies Brown ran in the six-horse Lake Placid along with stablemates Dolce Zel, Consumer Spending, and Eminent Victor, who finished third, fourth, and fifth, respectively, behind their stablemate in the 1 1/16-mile fixture for 3-year-old fillies on the grass. “I thought Haughty and Dolce Zel ran really well; the other two fillies didn’t fire,” said Brown. “They were both training really well so I’ll have to go back to the drawing board with them to figure out why.” Haughty earned a 93 Beyer Speed Figure for her performance in the Lake Placid, far and away her career best. :: Visit the Saratoga Handicapping Store for Past Performances, Clocker Reports, Picks, Betting Strategies and more. “I’ll try to get her to the Queen Elizabeth. I just don’t know at the moment if she’ll run again between now and then,” said Brown. “That race is also on the table for the other three as well, although there are other options around for all of them. I’ll just have to wait and see.”
