Quebec shows the way in Powder Break Stakes

Quebec held off a stretch bid from Fools Gold for a 1 1/4-length win in the $75,000 Powder Break on Saturday at Gulfstream Park. It was another 1 1/4 lengths back to Supercommittee in third.
The Powder Break was a one-mile turf race for fillies and mares.
Quebec ($9.80) broke sharply and the mare, who added blinkers for the race, established a clear lead coming out of the first turn. She set fractions of 23.32 seconds for the opening quarter, 46.78 for the half-mile, and 1:09.98 for six furlongs. In the later stages, Quebec kept Fools Gold at bay, while covering the distance on a firm ground in 1:33.50.
Samy Camacho was aboard for trainer Bobby Dibona.
Quebec is a daughter of Into Mischief and the mare Miss Canada. She races for the partnership of Ackerman Racing, William Marasa, and Ritchie Robershaw. She has now won 6 of 24 starts and earned $247,650.
