SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The New York Racing Association announced Saturday that the precautionary quarantines of Barns 60 and 63 at Saratoga have been lifted by the New York State Department of Agriculture effective immediately.

All horses stabled in those barns are again permitted to enter races as of Saturday, June 28, and to train with the general horse population beginning Sunday, June 29.

Barns 60 and 63, which contain horses under the care of trainer George Weaver, were placed under a precautionary quarantine last Saturday after the Weaver-trained Tenacious Child underwent testing for a number of potential ailments. The 2-year-old filly ultimately tested positive for the respiratory ailment strangles and the horses in Barn 66 were placed under a 14-day quarantine at the direction of the NYSDA on June 25. Those horses will be moved to an alternate location to complete the mandatory quarantine under NYSDA oversight.

A second 2-year-old colt trained by Weaver, Ice House, located in Saratoga, also returned a positive test for strangles on Friday and is being required to quarantine at an alternate location as well.

In a related development, NYRA announced Saturday that the 14-day quarantine of Barn 28 at Belmont Park, also due to a confirmed case of strangles, has been lifted by the NYSDA and as a result all horses stabled in that barn will be eligible to enter races, effective immediately, and train with the general horse population beginning Sunday.
