Quality Lane rallies to win Northland Oaks

Quality Lane benefited from a fast pace to win the $49,000 Northlands Park Oaks at Northlands Park on Friday evening. She paid $11 as the third choice in the one-mile race for 3-year-old fillies that drew seven horses.
While heavily favored Eustacia was being dogged through a quick half-mile in 46.18 seconds by her stablemate Star Lady, Rafael Zenteno Jr. had Quality Lane sitting comfortably in fifth. She was three lengths behind Star Lady and a tiring Eustacia at the top of the stretch and wore down Star Lady to win by 1 3/4 lengths. Star Lady opened up a clear lead on the stretch turn and held on well to finish 2 1/4 lengths clear of Wilko’s Quiet Girl, who was last at the six-furlong call.
Eustacia faded to finish sixth.
The final time over a track rated good was 1:40.19.
It was the first stakes win for Quality Lane, who is trained by Joan Petrowski.
The Kentucky-bred daughter of Quality Road is owned by Victor and Sharon Kleparchuk , Eric Dohei, and Viking Stable. She was purchased by Victor Kleparchuk for $14,000 at the 2013 Keeneland September yearling sale.
