Put some money Intoyourblues

Ron Gierkink|Oct 21, 2002

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Intoyourblues, a beaten favorite in her last outing, will try to make amends in the featured second race for Ontario-sired fillies and mares at Woodbine on Wednesday.

A field of five was drawn for the 6 1/2-furlong allowance, which carries a purse of $63,500.

Intoyourblues hit the board in one of her three starts in the spring for trainer Vinnie Tesoro before she was turned over to trainer Scott Fairlie. She posted a big effort in her first start for Fairlie on Aug. 5, winning a 6 1/2-furlong Ontario-sired maiden special weight race by a comfortable margin.

Intoyourblues crossed the wire first next time out, in a seven-furlong race at this level, but was disqualified and placed second for interfering with a rival in the stretch. Cutting back to six furlongs seemed to cramp her front-running style on Sept. 12, when she was farther back than usual while saving ground, and then mounted a mild rally for third.

James McKnight picks up the mount on Intoyourblues, a 4-year-old owned by Joe Tesoro.

Rounding out the field will be Peek a Boo Sara with Slade Callaghan aboard; Clairlyn, Steven Bahen; Cat on a Roof, Lisa Platts; and Bobdiwaynesueval, Robert Landry.

Peek a Boo Sara figures to be well supported in her first start on Lasix. A homebred, she won her debut on the dirt when running for a claiming price in September 2001, but has made her mark on the grass this year.

Peek a Boo Sara finished second in a one-mile allowance in June, and she wasn't badly beaten when sixth in a tough allowance won by Hot Talent in July. She ran a corker in the Aug. 5 Victoriana Stakes, finishing second to Ariel's Melody, but is coming off a subpar performance on the main track.

Peek a Boo Sara worked five furlongs in a quick 1:02 over the main track last Wednesday in preparation for her first outing in seven weeks. John LeBlanc Jr. trains.

Clairlyn exits a workmanlike maiden victory at this distance for trainer John Ross, who has sent out two of her full siblings to win stakes - Lynclar and Indian Dan.

Bobdiwaynesueval, trained by Sue Leslie, captured a 1 1/16-mile Ontario-sired maiden special weight in her last start.

Cat on a Roof returned from a layoff to end up fifth behind Intoyourblues Sept. 12. Her trainer, Fenton Platts, saddled longshot Devil Valentine to finish a close second in last Saturday's Bunty Lawless Stakes.
