A. P.’s Glory next race uncertain

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – A. P.’s Glory made it two wins without a loss when she captured the $100,000 Mountaineer Juvenile Fillies by 1 1/2 lengths last weekend, but trainer Jim DiVito and owner-breeder Curtis Green have no particular next race picked out yet for the 2-year-old Mineshaft filly.
“I think she’s going to be better as she goes on,” DiVito said. “It’s still kind of up in the air where we’ll run.”
A conservative approach would land A. P.’s Glory in the Sept. 6, $100,000 Arlington-Washington Lassie over seven furlongs on Polytrack, but the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante, on Aug. 30, hasn’t been ruled out.
A. P.’s Glory won her debut over Arlington Polytrack by 7 1/2 lengths, earning a 92 Beyer Speed Figure, and she was flattered when the race’s runner-up, Puntsville, returned to win a maiden special weight race here July 31. A. P.’s Glory’s winning Beyer over Mountaineer’s dirt track was 74, but DiVito liked what he saw on dirt.
“She finished strong,” he said. “She opened up four lengths, and after a horse made a run at her, she was going away at the finish again.”
