Proxy possible for Pimlico Special in May

Proxy, one of trainer Mike Stidham’s charges in the older horse division for Godolphin, is set to head to the trainer’s Maryland base and could make his next start in that state.
Proxy finished third in the Grade 3 Ben Ali Stakes on Saturday at Keeneland, his second graded stakes placing of the spring. With the Keeneland meet ending Friday, Stidham is preparing to move his string back to his base at the Fair Hill Training Center. From there, the colt could potentially make the short trip to run in the Grade 3 Pimlico Special on May 20.
“We are going to nominate around and try to pick the best spot for him,” Stidham said.
Stidham also trains Mystic Guide, the 2021 Dubai World Cup winner who has not started since last July, in this division for Godolphin. The horse had his second breeze of the year on Saturday morning at Keeneland, going three furlongs in 37 2/5 seconds, similar to what he had turned in the prior weekend.
Stidham said that he would continue to build Mystic Guide’s work pattern once the horse returns to Fair Hill. The long-range goal is the Breeders’ Cup Classic in November at Keeneland.
