Proven Cure rallies to win Brother Brown

Proven Cure, who is an 11-year-old gelding, won his fifth straight race Saturday night when he rallied for a three-quarter length win in the $40,000 Brother Brown at Remington Park. Orphan Brigade finished second, a length and three-quarters in front of favorite and third-place finisher The Niner Account.

Proven Cure ($7) covered five furlongs over firm turf in 56.52 seconds. Quincy Hamilton rode the winner for trainer John Locke. Proven Cure earned $24,000 for the win, which was his second stakes victory at the age of 11. Earlier this year, Proven Cure won the $50,000 Sam Houston Turf Sprint Cup.

Overall, Proven Cure has won 18 races, including three stakes, and $674,181. The gelding races for Stonecrest Farm.
