Proposed notches first graded stakes

ARCADIA, Calif. - Aided by a perfect trip, Proposed won her first graded stakes in Sunday's Grade 2, $150,000 at Santa Anita.
Ridden by Patrick Valenzuela, Proposed ($5.60) finished 1 1/16 miles in 1:44.32. She finished 2 1/2 lengths in front of Play Ballado, an invader from Florida who was making her graded-stakes debut. Somethinaboutlaura held third in the field of seven 4-year-old fillies.
Proposed was third for the first six furlongs, following Somethinaboutlaura through fractions of 23.14 and 47.44 seconds. Valenzuela guided her into contention with a three-wide rally on the final turn and quickly got a response.
Play Ballado rallied to be second in the final furlong but could not catch the winner.
Trained by John Shirreffs, Proposed has won 5 of 9 starts and $277,200. She was supplemented to the El Encino for $3,000.
