Promise Me Silver will return for Victory Ride

Promise Me Silver, who was undefeated in eight career starts prior to her 10th-place finish in the Acorn, will return to Belmont Park for the Grade 3 Victory Ride Stakes on July 4.
Promise Me Silver was off slowly at the start of the Acorn, then rushed up to take the lead through a 22.89-second opening quarter. She tired in the stretch of the one-mile race.
“Once her rear end slipped out from under her at the start, we were basically done,” trainer Bret Calhoun said. “She probably went a 21-and-change quarter, and we’d been teaching her to sit off the pace. It was a bad race; just draw a line through it.”
Calhoun said Promise Me Silver will fly to New York from Kentucky on July 1 and that Robby Albarado will ride in the 6 1/2-furlong Victory Ride.
Calhoun said Promise Me Silver was not a happy camper after the Acorn.
“She was acting a little funny after the race, like her feelings got hurt,” Calhoun said.
